Tiger Bay Ramblers welcomes everyone on its walks and this year we have launched a new walking and hiking group for younger people in their 20s-30s based in South Wales. If you are under 40 years of age and looking to have fun, get fit, and meet a welcoming bunch of people, then this will be the ideal group for you!
Starting outside Barry Island train station our walk takes us through Maslin Park around the headland of Jackson's Bay and Nell's Point, and along Barry Island beach to Friar's Point. From here we move to the harbour and Parade Gardens, on our way to The Knap and Marine Lake. We pass the remains of a Roman Villa as we make our way up a short hill to enjoy views across Barry Island before making our way through Birch Grove nature reserve and into Romilly Park. From here, we will return to the Knap gardens and Marine Lake before retracing our steps back to our start point.
The walk start time will enable those travelling by train from Cardiff Queen Street station to
arrive in Barry Island prior to the start of the walk (reminder - the walks start point is at Barry Island station, not Barry Docks, or Barry station!)
Attendee's should come prepared for the weather on the day, and may wish to bring drink and snacks for rest breaks during the walk.
