This is a linear walk from Corfe to Lulworth, taking advantage of the hourly 2023 summer season X50 bus service to return to Corfe. This service is only scheduled to run late July and August, so gives us a rare opportunity to run a linear walk over this section.
From Corfe, we walk down across Corfe Common via Kingston, out to the top of Houns Tout, where we join the South West Coast Path, and walk in a Westerly direction to Lulworth.
The final seven mile section from Kimmeridge Bay to Lulworth is one of the more physically demanding sections of the SWCP, with three big steep hills, however in return it is an area of stunning views. We will take the big hills at a steady pace and ensure everyone has time to rest and recover at the top. Regular 4050 walkers shouldn’t have any problems with the terrain, and we will pace this section slower than the normal 4050 walks.
Near the end we have a choice of taking the easier route over the top of Great Bindon, or drop down to Mupe Beach, and take the path past the Fossil Forest.
Booking Required: Please book free tickets using the eventbrite link provided.
Bring plenty of food and drink to keep you going. This is a long and in places hard walk, so we will have two or three snack breaks in addition to lunch.
The return time assumes we catch the 16:20 X50 bus at Lulworth Cove. If we get delayed there is a last bus at 17:20. Currently single bus journey fares are capped at £2.
Check the weather forecast before hand and dress appropriately; layers and good waterproof walking boots are recommended.
Public toilets at Corfe, Kimmeridge Bay and Lulworth. Water refills at Kimmeridge.
No Dogs (except RAD, but let the walk leader know in advance)
Fitness : All walkers are responsible for their own health and fitness to undertake this walk.
