We are the Tweeddale Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
The walk starts at the car park at Abbotsford House. Our route follows a good path down to the A6091 which is crossed with care. Then along the Solway woodland trail to the industrial estate. We walk through the estate to the Tweed riverbank which is followed via the chain link suspension bridge into Melrose. The return route goes back to the start point at Abbotsford following the riverbank all the way.
Pack lunch required. Terrain is mostly flat, undulating in places, a mixture of pavements, paths, occasional steps, and a few short sections of road walking. Parking charge at Abbotsford is £2 for the day. The journey from Peebles is about 42 miles so £4 per car passenger.
