Overview

The walk starts by heading to Gaer Hill to give views over Monmouthshire and beyond, before a steep descent to St Mary’s church near Tintern. A long uphill climb past lime kilns and a hillfort leads on to the Eagles Nest and views over the Severn Estuary.

Upper Wyndcliff Carpark. Take the A466 north from Chepstow to St Arvans, then go straight on at the first sharp right hand bend after leaving St Arvans on the Tintern road. The car park is then on the right after 450m.
