This is a pleasant walk from Alfric village, eastward to the medieval crook barn and then to the Knap mill nature reserve. We are now at 7 miles. For those walkers who have had enough, you can walk the extra half mile back to your cars. The rest of us can continue through the nature reserve before returning to Alfric, making a total of 9 miles. Time will be allocated for those who wish to visit the crook barn.
Expect good views, mainly pasture, some woodland, a fairly steep climb out of the nature reserve, some mud and large puddles (weather dependant) and around a dozen stiles if doing the 9 miles.
Please bring sufficient food and drink for a coffee and a lunch stop.
Sorry no dogs unless for assistance purposes and with the walk leaders permission.
For those of you who are not aware of the crook barn, I quote, "An outstanding display of medieval carpentry. This mighty timber-framed barn is the largest cruck structure in Britain. Built for Pershore Abbey in the early 14th century, it is 46 meters long with 18 crook blades, each made from a single oak tree".
