A leisurely 7/8 mile walk through the Almondell Country Park.
Our route is via paths in the park to the Visitor's Centre, Lin's Mill Aqueduct and along the Union Canal, there will be some walking on minor roads.
There are a number of ascents and descents of about 30m, some very steep. Some muddy bits are anticipated. Post walk refreshments possible at Almondell Cafe at nearby J & R Veitch Garden Centre.
If you would like to join us, please contact the Walk Leader to book a place in advance, noting that for some walks places may be limited. Please advise the walk leader of any issue that may affect your ability to complete the walk, if you intend to travel independently to the start of the walk, and/or if you are willing to drive/car share from the meeting point.
Also, if you have one, please remember to bring your ICE card with you on the walk; or, if you don’t have one, a note of your proposed emergency contact name and number will be required in case of emergency.
Please note that, unfortunately, dogs are not welcome on our walks.

Meet in Pentland View Car Park. Accessible by Lothian Bus Service 44 using Pentland View Court bus stop. Meet at 9.15 for 09.30 departure.
Start Point: Almondell & Calderwood Country Park, South Car Park. Directions from Pentland View Car Park: Turn left from the Library, and then left down Riccarton Mains Road, through the roundabout at the Park & Ride and left at the next roundabout to take the A71 west. After Linburn you will see East Calder signposted to the right on the B7015 – take this turn. Just past the left turn to JR Veitch Garden Centre you must turn right where it is signed "Almondell & Calderwood Country Park, South Entrance.” Turn right into the cemetery car park. 8 miles travel from Pentland View Car Park to start of Walk.
