Isn't Alstonefield a wonderful place? We think so and that's a good reason to walk there this Sunday. Fancy coming along too? You're most welcome - although if this is your first time with us please drop us a line to let us know, so we don't leave without you.
Registration: 09.45. Walk start: 10.00.
This is a classic hills and dales walk in the White Peak with some ascents and descents to match. Nothing too steep though, but sufficient for a Moderate/Strenuous grading. Approximately fifteen stiles, both conventional wooden ones and stone wall step stiles. Poles useful if you have them.
Loo's near the start (pop in as you drive though Alstonefield as per the satellite screenshot in the photos) and later during the walk also.
There's no longer a pub in the village for afterwards🙁 but we'll sort something out, just like we did last week at Boylestone😃.
Directions: Primarily for our own members but applicable if you're coming in via Ashbourne.
The start is located some seven miles north of Ashbourne.
From your home location to Ashbourne on either the A515 via Sudbury or the B5031 & B5032 via Rocester and Mayfield. Then north on the A515 for a further 5 miles out of Ashbourne, direction Buxton, until the left turn signed for Alstonefield 0.4 mile after the pair of red brick former railway houses on your right hand side.
After turning left continue (with care) for 2 miles to enter Alstonefield village. Follow the road through, past the loo's on your left, then turn acute left 75 yards later. Then proceed for 100 yards to the village hall and car park entrance on your right. There is an Honesty Box located at the car park entrance, thank you.
