Hello Everyone
We have a late change to the programme this Sunday when we're off to lovely Alstonefield in the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park with a walk taking in Wetton plus a few other scenic delights. Field footpaths, high level tracks, and some lane walking all feature to join the dots together. There's one steep ascent on this otherwise moderately graded walk, and approximately a dozen step stiles.
Why not join us? You're most welcome to do so.
Registration: 09.45. Walk start: 10.00. Walk Leader: Barry (07811 141484)
Toilets are available on the drive north at Ashbourne Leisure Centre, Clifton Road DE6 1DR, or in Alstonefield as you drive through before the start (you can usually park outside here, but it will almost certainly be busy). There are also loo's at lunchtime.
⚠️Please note that our start point is the playing field car park on the southern edge of Alstonefield, not the usual village hall car park which is likely to be busy with Bank Holiday traffic if we get a nice day. And we could sure do with one for a change. It's been wet on our last two outings up here!😂
Post walk refreshments to be sorted out once we've finished.
Directions: primarily for our own members or anyone arriving from the south via Ashbourne.
The start is located some seven miles north of Ashbourne.
To Ashbourne on either the A515 via Sudbury or the B5031 & B5032 via Rocester and Mayfield. Then north on the A515 for a further 5 miles out of Ashbourne, direction Buxton, until the left turn signed for Alstonefield 0.4 mile after the pair of red brick former railway houses on your right hand side.
After turning left continue (with care) to follow the course of the road for 2 miles to enter Alstonefield village. Follow the road through, past the loo's on your left, then turn acute left 75 yards later, direction Wetton. Proceed for 150 yards to the village hall on your right, but keep going for a further 200 yards to then turn right into the playing field car park. There's a couple of photos above to aid you.
