Overview

A walk across the beautiful beach of Freshwater West & around the stunning Angle Peninsular. The beach & the peninsular both have outstanding scenery. The beach has connections to the Harry Potter film franchise & the consumption of a South Wales seafood delicacy. The peninsular has a huge amount of history associated with it, some dating back to Tudor times.

The walk will be at a gentle pace, as the leader is recovering from a knee injury & there are 4 steep descents moving West across the Peninsular. Although dog friendly the path is narrow in places. We also pass through farm land, dogs should be put on a lead here. There is a cafe about half way round in West Angle Bay. There are toilets in the cafe itself & public convenieces outside. About three quarters of the way along the walk is a pub the Old Point House in East Angle Bay. The leader took 7 hours to reccy the walk, so this really is an all day walk.

You can reach the car park at Gupton Burrows, by driving through the village of Castlemartin on the B4319 & just beyond the Western boundary of the tank range. The smallish car park will be on your right. Alternatively & perhaps better drive towards Angle on the B4320. A mile or so before reaching Angle you sees a sign for Freshwater West on your left. Take the narrow B4319 to just South of the beach. The car park will be on your left just before the Castlemartin tank range.
