Join us on this five mile walk to discover more colliery pit heads in the villages of North Somerset, (now North East Somerset).
This walk starts in Clutton and after a short walk we reach the most northern pit of Clutton, then turn south to visit further pitheads of Clutton and High Littleton, with a few tiny pit heads not often recognised. The walk has some sections of firm ground and some muddy country fields. It's a varied walk, including woods, rivers and the fringes of villages.
Please wear substantial footwear to cope with the muddy conditions. As the ground is uneven you may find the use of a walking pole useful.
Bring a drink and a light picnic. We walk as fast as the slowest walker so please don't worry that you will slow us down. The best bus to catch is First, (in Bristol Bath and the West), 172 or the 367. Please allow about 20 minutes to walk from the A37 to the start of the walk. Detailed bus time tables can be found at: http://www.travelinesw.com/
