The Beachy Head Ramblers opens the way for everyone to enjoy walking the downs, clifftops, and wealdways of our area.
A short but steep in places walk before the Sussex Area AGM. The walk is open to all but the AGM is for Sussex area members only.
From picturesque East Dean Village we pass Sherlock Holmes’s cottage and climb the hill to Crowlink. We walk down a pretty lane with great vistas of the Downs to the west then on a footpath down to the coast at Gap Bottom. We go east over the Seven Sisters crossing Flagstaff Brow, Bailey’s Hill and Went Hill to Birling Gap for a coffee stop and an opprtunity to take in the views. We briefly retrace our steps to Went Hill climbing to further great views at the top and down a steep but scenic wooded path to East Dean.

Please note the chalk soil can be very slippery especially on steep paths. A walking pole is recommended
East Dean Village Hall Park in East Dean Village car park (free) Nearest bus stop East Dean (12/12A/12X) from Brighton or Eastbourne. From Eastbourne catch bus from bus stop G1 Gildredge Rd (2 minutes walk from station) When driving or alighting from bus at East Dean drive/walk down Gilberts Drive at T junction with A259 signposted to Birling Gap/ Beachy Head/VillageGreen. Road is clearly visible from bus stop After 100 m turn right at signpost to Tiger Inn. Hall is on left
