From Wotton, we will ascend Adey's Lane, walk through Conygre Wood, then a further short ascent to Wotton Hill. We then follow the Cotswold Way through Westridge Wood to Nibley Knoll viewpoint, returning through Westridge Wood to traverse Coombe Hill. After a fairly steep descent through Coombe, we will stop at Holywell picnic site for lunch. From there we rejoin the Cotswold Way, ascending Blackquarries Hill, walking along the Cotswold escarpment to Wortley Hill, which we descend into Wortley. From there, we cross a few fields back to Wotton.
A mix of woodland, field and some roads, with some steep ascents, a few styles and possible cattle. Points of interest include Brackenbury Ditches Iron Age Hill Fort and the William Tyndale Monument, as well as good views over the Severn Vale.
Expect mud if there has been recent rain.
Bring food and drink for the walk. There are cafes in Wotton-Under-Edge for post-walk refreshment.
