Overview

This walk visits the lovely north Essex/east Cambridgeshire border area with rolling countryside, wide views and attractive villages.  We will pass the fine windmill above Ashdon, unusual Roman tumuli near Bartlow, and hopefully some snowdrops and aconites along the way.

The 6 mile morning circuit goes via Steventon End and Bartlow; with optional 2.7 mile afternoon loop via Church End for those wanting a longer walk.  There is a stile, and some sections likely to be muddy following wet weather.

Bring rations for morning coffee break, and for lunch if staying on for the afternoon loop.
