Overview

HELLO - THIS WALK IS GOING AHEAD, with a forecast of heavy rain at times.  PLEASE WEAR WALKING BOOTS AND WATERPROOF CLOTHES.  Small brollies will come in useful too.

A leafy and gently undulating route; taking in the beautiful Autumn countryside around Battle, Crowhurst and Telham. Featuring ancient pathways, wooden sculpture, the RSPB's Fore Wood nature reserve and Battle Great Wood. We pass an impressively unsmelly sewage works, too - Sunday stimulation for all the engineers out there.

The circular route brings together the 1066 Walk's western and eastern approaches into Battle.

Beautiful autumn hedgerows with open views and colourful woodland canopies.

Plenty of puddles and muddy sections after the rain, so walking boots are necessary; but grading-wise this walk is the friendly end of 'moderate'. Only one, low stile, and a 3-4 minute stretch of walking on the pavement on an A-road.

Bring a snack and a drink, and something to sit on (there are no benches available) - we'll stop for a short break. There's the option of a pub at the end of the walk.

There's an easy drop off point at Crowhurst station for anyone who'd like a short (4 mile) Sunday stroll, too.

Please do RSVP in advance, even if you need to drop out on the day. Thank you.

N.B. This walk is the day after the clocks go back - an extra hour on Sunday morning - so there's plenty of time to get to the start point!
