Most of this walk follows a section of the John Muir Way. It starts from Balloch Park on tarmac paths and after walking past Lomond Shores (where we'll have a tea break and comfort stop), ascends up a narrow country lane to the cross stone on Stoneymollan Muir, then forestry tracks and a woodland path onto Gouk Hill. On a clear day we should be rewarded with panoramic views of Loch Lomond. Unfortunately forestry works means we have to cut the walk short and after a break for lunch, return the way we came.
Woodland section of the walk and open hillside may be wet and boggy, otherwise paths are tarmac and dry.
Lomond Shores retail outlet offers the opportunity for comfort breaks and a cafe coffee stop on the return leg of the walk.
