We leave the starting point to head South East over the railway line, and then the River Tyne towards Beltingham. We take the opportunity to make a short stop in this very pretty village to visit the parish church, which is the site of not only a magnificent ancient Yew tree but also the family burial plot of the Northumberland branch of Bowes-Lyons Nobility. Leaving the village, we take a walk through woods and fields to join a minor road which takes us after a short while towards our route to Allenbanks. Here we follow the ridgeline before descending to the riverside path as we make our return and retrace some of our steps back to the start.
