This is a circular walk which includes a moorland climb up to the summit of Barmekin Hill, an Iron Age hillfort, a distinctive conical landmark in the area, with good views over the Aberdeenshire countryside. The descent of this hill can be slippery if wet so care must be taken. Walking poles are advisable. We then cross over the road to enter the Dunecht Estate giving views of the country house. We follow good tarmac roads and forest tracks through the Estate.
This walk will be co-led by Susan McIntyre.
