Finchley & Hornsey is a friendly group, open to everyone. We walk mainly in Herts and surrounding counties.
Barnet LB has proposed a new Barnet Loop for walkers and cyclists using existing paths, from the Welsh Harp in the SW, up the Silkstream to Edgware, E to join the London Loop, S down the Dollis Valley Greenwalk and back W along the Capital Ring to the Welsh Harp. See website below for more details.
This walk follows the route between Colindale and Totteridge & Whetstone stations. It's organised by North London & South Herts Group and led by Libby. Finchley & Hornsey members are warmly invited to join, as are any members or non-members living in or near Barnet. You can give feedback direct on the LB Barnet website or to Libby as a contribution to Ramblers' response.
You can join at the start or at Edgware station an hour later (toilets in the shopping centre nearby). You can also leave the walk at Burnt Oak, Edgware, the A1 north of Apex Corner or High Barnet.
Bring a packed lunch and refreshments. There will be a couple of banana/water stops on the way.
Mostly easy walking with some short ascents and descents. The route uses green spaces where possible but there will be some pavement walking through residential areas.
Meet outside Colindale station - closed, but there's a good 125 bus service from Southgate, Whetstone or Finchley Central. Or join us at 11.00 at the entrance to Edgware station (2 miles N of Colindale).
