A linear walk, starting from ODD DOWN Park & Ride site (bring bus pass or £3.60 for ticket for return).
Parking: Even though we are using the P&R bus at the end of the walk, to avoid any confusion it is advisable that If you arrive at Odd Down Park and Ride by car, the driver pay the £2 parking fee via the MiPermit website/app, by card either beforehand or on the day before the walk starts. (Odd Down P&R code is 751082)
We then walk down to South Stoke village and onto Midford to join the former S&D Railway track. Continuing along the dismantled railway track, now a path/cycleway until the Combe Down Tunnel. Carrying on through the tunnel for some 1.5 KM. Subsequently leaving the path/cycleway to walk up through Lyncombe Vale to Alexandra Park/Beechen Cliff overlooking the city of Bath with fine views.
Walk down towards the city centre and alongside the river Avon crossing the new footbridge over to the former Green Park railway station, the original terminal for the S&D railway line. Finally returning to Park and Ride bus stop in Southgate street for trip back up to Odd Down.
This is familiar walk and is a recce for a planned Wessex Railway's group walk in June.
