Jean and Thomas (the dog) invite you to join us on a walk around some hidden lanes and footpaths of Bath, including great views.
After crossing the River Avon on the Halfpenny bridge, we have a gradual fairly steep climb through woods to Beechen Cliff viewpoint in Alexandra Park to enjoy the views over the city. (We won't be going up the very steep Jacob's Ladder steps).
We then have a level section along Lyncombe Hill fields before descending through woods, following the Lyn brook, and then ascending again towards Fox Hill. This is likely to be the muddiest part of the walk, but with more views. Most of the rest of our route is on lanes. We descend down Perrymead, possibly visiting Bath Abbey cemetery.
We return past St Thomas à Becket Church and Widcombe Crescent before stopping at Prior Park Garden Centre for well-earned refreshments. From here it is less than half a mile back to Bath Spa Station.
Bring a drink and a snack for a refreshment stop during the walk. Walking boots recommended and you may find walking poles useful. Please bring your ICE (In Case of Emergency) card, or ask the leader for one.
