From Biddulph Grange Country Park we plan to take the cycle route along the former Knotty railway south-westwards past rolling countryside. The intended route then rises along tracks and lanes to Mow Cop’s intriguing castle with fabulous views, before an airy, part-wooded ridge on the Gritstone Trail meanders north-easterly back towards the start. There are some awkward stiles together with some stony and possibly muddy sections. Walking poles are recommended if you use them and particular care is needed on the road sections.
