A walk from the Black Mountain Quarry up onto the central peaks of the Black Mountain and back. This visits parts of Bannau Brecheiniog that are less accessible except by walking and not so well known. The ground is a mixture of moorland and rocky outcrops which can be uneven underfoot . However, the high points of Foel Raith and Twyn-Swnd give exceptional views all around including over the Carmarthen Vans.
With several steep sections and the general stony ground both sturdy walking boots and walking poles are advised. The area is exposed so there are few places to avoid bad weather. This is aimed at more experienced walkers and is strenous.
