Overview

The walk will follow the foreshore path through the nature reserve and along the John Muir Way to the Kinneil Estate and the Antonine Wall. We’ll then find the Bowmains nature reserve and walk through shelter belts and pavements to retrace our steps to Kinneil House and back to the Heritage railway. The trains should be running and there are historical and industrial heritage features to be explored along the way.

Bo'ness From Currie drive to the M8 and then onto the M9. Leave M9 at Junction 3 and take the A904 Bo’ness road. Follow this road for 3 miles (first Grahamsdyke Road, then Dean Road) to reach a set of traffic lights with a park on the right and a petrol station ahead. Turn right onto Linlithgow Road and follow it as it winds downhill towards the Forth. At the roundabout, take the second exit into Union Street. Keep straight ahead until the road bends sharp right and go straight ahead through the green gates of the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway site. Park on the right just inside the gates.
