Almost five miles. This walk I have called Strenuous, although the total ascent is only 740 feet, there are some steep climbs along the way. We start with a one third mile climb along the minor road in Wirksworth Dale and also within the first mile we climb, on well used paths, to the trig point atop Harbro’ Rocks, for a 360° panoramic view. Six stiles in all. The walk is on wide farm tracks, also parts of the High Peak Trail and the Limestone Way, along with many undulating grazing meadows. Several fields with, Cattle, cows and calves, so sorry, this walk is not suitable for Dogs. Morning break, above Longcliffe Quarry. We will also walk through Maddock Lake, no wellies required!
Risk assessment Limestone area, some paths slippery if wet. Some steep grassy descents, take care, slippery if wet. Rocky outcrops, tripping hazard. Six wood and stone stiles, slippery if wet. Any fields, should there be cattle present and, in our way, we will divert around them. Roads, we will join and the cross Manystones Lane, near quarry works entrance, take care, keep right, large vehicles may be turning. We will walk for a short way and cross the busy Longcliffe Road, take care keep right. Brassington village, be aware of many cars parked along the roadside, may obscure oncoming traffic. 07918882152 my contact number whilst walking
