A walk with David via Black Rocks, Bole Hill and Cromford Moor. This walk involves two good ascents, part one, to gain the viewing point at Black Rock after which, part two, to continue the climb to the Trig point atop of Bole Hill. There are two other smaller inclines, both on hard surfaces. Morning break after 2.4 miles (11.15a.m.) There after, mostly descending gradually to pick up the High Peak trail, following this back to the car park. 3-4 stiles. No cattle seen, sheep in many fields so dogs on leads please. We pass by public toilets, twice during the walk. Many good scenic viewing points.
Risk assessment
We cross over the busy Cromford Road, take care, good sight lines. We cross over the minor Oakerthorpe Road, three times, taking care and be aware of Traffic passing by. We walk beside it on the footway for a short time. Tripping hazards on many of the paths in the form of protruding rocks and tree roots. Two very steep, but short descents, take care, these will be slippery if wet, there are steps and foot holds in places. Viewing point on Black Rock, take care and do not stand to close to the edges. Three or four stiles, depending if gates are open or closed, take care on the wooden one, slippery if wet.
