Overview

Please note later start time.

Given decent weather this walk offers excellent long views in all directions including of Pen y Fan, Fan Frynach and of the Usk Valley and the Black Mountains from the Iron Age Hill Fort at the Northern end of Mynydd Illtyd.

There are no stiles, but sections of the ground are still muddy. There is a steep section leading up to the Hill Fort, but we will take our time.

Spring is here and when we did our recce we had a constant chorus from the skylarks.

When having our coffee break at the edge of the Nature Reserve the company included half a dozen Curlew, Lapwing and the Red Kite we saw regularly throughout the walk.
