Hello Everyone
We're off to Shropshire this Sunday with a walk from Bridgnorth taking in both High & Low towns at the beginning via the Cliff Railway (£2.50), or up the steps if you prefer. Following this we head out to Astley Abbots on field footpaths and quiet lanes before returning to town along the banks of the River Severn.
Join us if you will, you're most welcome to do so of course. If this is your very first time with the group we'd appreciate it if you could let us know beforehand. Cheers.
Registration: 09.45. Walk start: 10.00. Walk leaders: Karl (07403 756416) & John (07803 811563)
Loo's available at the start and at lunchtime.
Post walk refreshments at The Black Horse in Bridgnorth close to where we're parked.
See you all there on Sunday morning!
Directions. Primarily for our own members or anyone coming from the Wolverhampton direction.
The start is located on the east of Bridgnorth town centre. Below is the shortest route through the northern suburbs of Wolverhampton (via Oxley and Tettenhall) which is fairly direct and shouldn't be busy on a Sunday morning.
From your home location pick up the A5 westbound towards Gailey Island (M6 Junction 12), but turn left at the lights before the motorway into Vicarage Road to Four Ashes where turn left at the lights onto the A449 and proceed towards Wolverhampton.
Pass under the M54, still A449, and continue over the first two islands, then 0.25 mile after the second island get in lane to turn right signed for Pendeford. Follow the course of the road for almost 2 miles through Oxley and Aldersley until the mini-island T-junction with Lower Street, Tettenhall.
Turn left here, up the hill to the A41 lights, where straight over via the B4161 for 0.9 mile to Compton where right hand lane to go straight on at the island to pick up the A454 Bridgnorth Road. Proceed on the A454 for 12 miles until the island where the A454 turns left. At this island go straight over on the B4363 and descend Hermitage Hill to the next island with the A442 in Bridgnorth.
Turn left here onto the A442 and follow for 350 yards to then turn right into Severn Street. Turn right again 70 yards later into Severn Street car park. Photos above of the final approaches.
