The route comprises 3 roughly equal sections: Brigstock to Stanion, Stanion to edge of Geddington, Geddington back to Brigstock.
The first part is mainly along grassy tracks alongside or on clear paths through arable fields (stubble at the time of my second recce, but may be ploughed by the time of the walk), with a short section through woodland before we reach Stanion. There are far reaching views over the Northamptonshire countryside.
At Stanion, we head along a short residential road & a very short section of minor road before heading towards Geddington. The route goes through woodland, then on to grassy tracks along field edges before reaching the grounds of Boughton Estate. A wide grassy track (which may be cut, but grass may be high) leads to the estate office, then we use a small track edged by trees to get to our lunch stop at Geddington Brickyard Garden (just before the village).
The last third of the route takes us along a grassy byway, called Clay Dick (along the south-east edge of Geddington Chase Wood), for a couple of miles before reaching Chase Farm and a surfaced road leading back into Brigstock. Our cars will be parked here, at the start of the village.
This is an easy route, with no stiles, no livestock in fields and only a couple of short slopes. We mostly walk along field edges/on well-defined tracks though arable fields, along grassy byways and short sections through woodland.
There are a few potentially muddy sections if we have rain before the walk and areas through woodland which have brambles/nettles (so please consider this before wearing shorts).
Coffee stop will be just before we get to Stanion. Picnic lunch stop will be at the Geddington Brickyard Garden, where there are some tables & seating.
There is a stretch of minor road walking at the end of he walk, but this is only used to access the farm and one other house so should provide safe walking.
Please consider car sharing arrangements with other members to reduce the pressure on parking spots at the start of the walk.
In the event of severe weather, please contact the leader on the morning to check the walk is still on.
