Overview

Join this friendly group for an attractive, undulating, walk in the scenic Stour Valley. We will set out via the ancient St Stephen's chapel, with views across to the Bures Dragon, before continuing along St Edmund's Way, crossing the river near Wiston church. We will return along the Stour Valley Path, with more fine views and points of interest. There will be an optional pub stop near the end of the walk for any feeling they deserve a drink!

The start point is just off the Nayland Road at CO8 5DA (see Google Maps link below) where you'll find safe parking in this quiet side road. This is a ten-minute walk from Bures Station. 09:45 meet-up for a 10:00 departure. Conditions are currently very dry, but stout footwear is recommended. Please bring sufficient food and drink as there are no retail opportunities until we return to Bures. Unfortunately, there are no toilets until we return to Bures, but there is much quiet and secluded countryside along the way.

The pace will be nice and steady, with breaks at points of interest and a longer pause for lunch at a suitable location.
