This is a 7 mile walk starting from Cardington and approaching Caer Caradoc hill from the east. We start walking from the village, initially over rolling farmland and climbing gradually, then after a fairly steep climb to the summit there are far-reaching views over Church Stretton towards the Long Mynd. We follow the path down to Three fingers Rock with lovely views over to Hope Bowdler hill. We'll return with short climb up Willstone Hill with views over farmland and back to the pretty village of Cardington. The landscape is rolling farmland with some steep ridges and jagged rocky outcrops - great for photos!
Paths are generally very good, though steep in places, there are 8 or 9 stiles all in reasonable condition, and many of the older stiles have now been replaced with brand new kissing gates.
There are no public toilets available on the route.
There are sheep roaming and in many of the fields. Dogs only with the permission of the walk-leader, and must be on lead.
Walkers may wish to stop for a drink or a meal at the Royal Oak in Cardington after the walk - meal orders taken until 2.30pm. If you'd like to eat at the pub - let the leader know and we can book a table.
