A stunning walk in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape with lovely views of the surrounding major summits throughout, including the Stiperstones, Long Mynd, Lawley, Wrekin, plus woods and valleys. We start from the well preserved Mottle & Bailey remains in Pulverbatch, dating from shortly after the Norman Conquest, and walk towards Gatten Lodge to visit the Marie Curie Daffodil Field. Then passing two pools, we return over Wilderley Hill and descend down a long, scenic section of the Shropshire Way. We glimpse another less obvious Mottle & Bailey before reaching Church Pulverbatch village via a dingle, a short road and bridleway walk away from our start point.
The walk is mostly gently undulating, with some ups and downs along quiet lanes, tracks and grassy bridleways. There is a 60m uphill near the start, a 100m ascent over Wilderley Hill and one 60m ascent out from the woodland dingle near Church Pulverbatch. Dogs will be only be accepted, if their owners can lift them over the two stiles on the route (NB one stile is damaged so one upper step is unusable) and short leads are essential as we will be passing, or crossing, some fields with sheep and lambs. Bring a drink, snacks and a packed lunch. Car share is advised as the car park is small. Please contact the leader if you want to bring a dog and to ask about any possible car shares.
