A short walk around Callander Park and then visiting Falkirk's first Festival of Trees. Passing the impressive Callander House and the loch we follow paths through the woods bringing us to the Mausoleum. We then go towards the house to walk through the arboretum and the golf course back to the cars.
Good paths though some parts muddy. A short incline up to the mausoleum which is optional. We will have one break for coffee/early lunch and refreshments after we visit the Christmas Trees.
The walk in the park is 2.5 miles and another mile to and from the High Street making it 3.5 miles in total.
Local grade C.
After the walk we will go back to the car park where we can change out of our boots before walking to Falkirk High Street and visiting the Christmas Tree Festival. This is a 15 minute walk.
The Festival of Trees is a community event that takes place in towns and cities around the world — and this year, Falkirk will host its very first one. Held in the former Wilko unit, the festival will feature around 200 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, each designed by local businesses, charities, community groups, dancers, drama clubs, and individuals who want to add festive sparkle to the town centre.
Visitors can also enjoy:
- An indoor Christmas market with festive crafts and gifts
- Live performances from local choirs and community groups
- Artwork displays by pupils from Carmuirs Primary School
The Festival of Trees is free for everyone to enjoy. During your visit, you’ll have the chance to make a donation, with proceeds supporting next year’s festival and the local food bank — helping to keep this a true community event while supporting a worthwhile local cause.
Toilets available in the park at the start of the walk and the Howgate Centre in the High Street.
Refreshments available around the town centre.
