The walk explores some of the green spaces within the created-from-scratch settlement of Cambourne (planning proposal approved in 1996). The original vision was of of 3 interlinked villages, each with easy access to open spaces for recreation and leisure. The local Wildlife Trust was involved from the start, and Cambourne’s combination of existing and newly created habitats aims to show that wildlife can be accommodated in a new development and enhance life for all residents.
Main paths are surfaced and flat; short sections of other paths could be muddy after wet weather. For those wanting a shorter walk there is a 3.5 mile option available.
Bring drink/snack for mid-morning coffee break.
