Cradled by gentle rolling hills topped by towering wind turbines, Camps
Reservoir was constructed in the 1930s to supply the people of South Lanarkshire
with their drinking water. It is a great place for a peaceful, undemanding low level flat
walk on easy gravel tracks.
This is an easy and straightforward walk on predominantly
flat ground the entire route along gravel tracks. Although there are wet puddles on
the track, walking shoes are more than adequate and walking poles are not really
required, but that is a personal preference. There are no stiles to climb but several
cattle grids which have pedestrian side gates.
Biggar Corn Exchange
Start Point. Grass verge at the point where the main access road to Camps Reservoir splits at a sign which clearly states “No unauthorised vehicles beyond this point.”
