CANCELLED due to adverse weather
A mainly easy walk out of the village, up to open moorland and then back towards the River Derwent. Crossing the county boundary into Northumberland and then alongside the river and through the village past the Abbey.
Depending on the weather it can be very muddy so boots recommended and possibly poles for the short steep downhill slope from the moor.
The walk is starting in the early afternoon to allow plenty of time for folk to get to the George Hotel and settle in before dinner. There are options for a light lunch/coffee/snacks beforehand at either The White Monk Tearoom or The Lord Crewe Arms which are both in the centre of the village.
This walk is part of our Away Weekend Event, and is fully subscribed by the Event attendees.
Walk leader: Julia
Grade: C+. Leisurely pace. Boots and poles are recommended.
Estimated duration: 1hr 45 mins
