Hello Everyone
Announcing a change from the programme schedule this Sunday due to flooding in the Stafford area. Therefore walk leader Heather deploys her Plan B around Shugborough Park & the northern reaches of Cannock Chase where underfoot conditions should less trying, but not entirely free of mud.
This Moderately graded event takes in some undulating terrain so poles might come in handy if you have them. No stiles however and mostly on good paths and forestry tracks.
As ever, you're most welcome to join us. It'd be great if you could let us know beforehand should you be coming along for the very first time, thanks. If you've walked with us before there's no need to tell us - just turn up.
Registration: 09.15. Walk Start 09.30. Walk leader: Heather (07725 676108)
No facilities at the start or during the walk itself.
Post walk refreshments venue to be advised on the day.
Our own members should note there isn't a rendezvous at Hednesford for this local walk. Please go direct to the start.
See you there on Sunday folks!
Directions: primarily for our own members although good for everyone once you're on the A513 Rugeley to Stafford road. ⚠️If you're arriving via satnav please use the provided What3words code as the postcode is not accurate.
The start is at Seven Springs public car park situated just off the A513 between Milford and Rugeley. Well known to most local walkers and accessed via the narrow lane directly opposite Weetmans Bridge and the road to Little Haywood.
From Cannock pick up the A34 northwards and proceed to Brocton Crossroads some 200 yards after passing The Chetwynd Arms on your left. Turn right into Sawpit Lane, signed for Brocton and Milford and continue for 1.75 miles to the mini-island T-junction with the A513 opposite Milford Common and with The Barley Mow pub in front of you.
Turn right here onto the A513, direction Rugeley, and proceed for 2.3 miles. Look out for the left turn signed for Little Haywood, but instead turn right at these crossroads and follow the narrow lane uphill for 300 yards to the Seven Springs parking/picnic area. From Hednesford, Rugeley, & Lichfield. Proceed on the A51 for 0.9 mile to the double mini-islands at The Wolseley Arms pub where bear left onto the A513 signed for Stafford.
Continue for 1.1 miles to the crossroads for Seven Springs car park/picnic area and Little Haywood via Weetman's Bridge. Turn left and follow the narrow lane uphill for 300 yards to enter the Seven Springs parking/picnic area. Satellite screenshot in the photos above.
