Hello Everyone
A nice local adventure this Sunday starting from Castle Ring at Cannock Wood, on the southern edge of Cannock Chase and heading east to Upper Longdon before looping clockwise back to base via Gentleshaw Common. Some hills but nothing serious. A couple of muddy fields but mostly OK otherwise. Approximately a dozen stiles.
Are you up for it with us? Excellent! If this is your very first time with Chase Ramblers it'd be good if you could let us know beforehand so that we don't embarrass ourselves by asking random strangers if they're looking for us.
Registration: 09.15. Walk start: 09.30. There is no rendezvous at Hednesford for this event.
The Park Gate Inn is within staggering distance of the finish so that's where we'll end up post walk. Sorry folks, there's no raucous Chase Ramblers led karaoke this week unlike what occurred last Sunday afternoon!😁🎤🎶🎶🎤😁
Directions: Primarily for our own members or anybody arriving from south of the start venue.
The start is located 1.75 miles north of Sankey's Corner, Chase Terrace, Burntwood, on the A5190 Cannock to Lichfield main road.
From Aldi leave the A5190, signed here for Cannock Wood, then 150 yards later select the right hand lane at the lights and turn right onto the dead straight Rugeley Road and continue for 1.5 miles latterly up Hayfield Hill to enter Cannock Wood village. At the staggered crossroads proceed straight across into Bradwell Lane taking care with traffic here as visibility is poor.
Follow the signs for Castle Ring by turning left into Park Gate Road. Continue for 500 yards and pass the pub where you'll now see the car park directly in front of you. Take care again at the T-junction immediately before the entrance.
Screenshots of the final approaches are in the photos above.
Other routes are possible of course if you're arriving from north of the venue. Satnav is your friend if that's the case.
See you there Sunday morning.
