Overview

Meeting near the bus stop outside the Hare and Hounds, we begin our walk with an exploration of Redisher Woods nature reserve, following Holcombe Brook up and beyond Simons Lodge. After skirting the MOD training grounds to our left, we ascend the western slopes of Holcombe Hill to make our way accross the National Trust's open access moor. Upon reaching the prominent Peel Tower, which dominates the hillside to the west of Ramsbottom, we pause for a while before descending gently back to our start point at the bottom of Lumb Carr Road.

For those who wish to do so, we will finish our walk with optional lunch and/or refreshments at the Hare and Hounds Pub Restaurant.
