Overview

Leaving the Car park we immediately join the Heart of Wales Line Trail we follow this for about a mile, until  we reach a lane, a couple of lanes lead us to the footpath that follows the north bank of the Afon Cennan. We walk long the riverbank into the hamlet of Trap. Its then a short road section up and out of Trap until we reach a footpath which loops round and leads us across farmland and on to the open moorland of Pal y Cwrt where we take the Beacons Way back down to the Afon Cennan. We cross the bridge and climb out of the valley and up to the castle on its east side. The second half of the walk, after we leave Trap, has good views of the Castle perched majestically high on a rocky crag.
