This is a walk through a landscape of hills, rivers, and fields plus two impressive bridges.
Largely following the Beacons Way, this walk wends its way to Cwmdu, crossing the valley to Cefn Moel and on to Bwlch which will be our lunch time stop. Hopefully the New Inn will provide liquid refreshment. After our break we head for Llangynidr, where we leave the Beacons Way after crossing the River Usk via Llangynidr Bridge - dating from about 1700 it is thought to be the oldest bridge on the Usk. Water levels permitting, we will follow the river before joining the Usk Valley Walk on the towpath of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal. The final section of the walk is through fields leading to our second bridge at Crickhowell, (first recorded in 1538 but rebuilt in 1706), a short step away from the start.
