This circular walk offers plentiful parking on the road that goes into St Boswells. We walk alongside the south bank of the Tweed on St Cuthbert’s way, fringing the Golf course and watching out for errant golf balls, to Mertoun bridge. We cross this carefully because of fast traffic. We then join the Borders Abbey Way to walk upstream on the north bank of the Tweed, past Dryburgh Abbey to the Dryburgh Suspension Bridge. We then re-join St Cuthbert’s way to climb up through the woods back to St Boswells. We have one mile on quiet roads, but otherwise on good paths, though these can be very slippery, and we have two stiles and a lot of tree roots to trip us up.
Grade: C. Boots and poles are recommended.
