An easy morning walk around around the area between Cholsey and Aston Tirrold, including a chance to see the grave of Agatha Christie. This walk requires advance booking via Meetup (see Website link). Please do not turn up without booking. If you are unable to use Meetup but would like to attend, please either ask someone else to register you as their guest, or email walkbookings@berkshirewalkers.co.uk with your request. Pace: gentle.
Walk details The walk will be mostly across the fields to the west of Cholsey, making a loop around Lollingdon Hill, skirting the edge of the village of Aston Tirrold and following some of the small watercourses before picking up the track to St Mary’s Church on our way back, notable amongst other things as the last resting place of the author Agatha Christie. We’ll then make our way back into Cholsey. The walk is mostly quite flat, apart from one small hill (about 65m ascent in total), but note that as much of the walk is over farmland, some of the paths could be quite muddy so walking boots are definitely recommended. Travel details By public transport From Reading, take the 09:18 train, arriving into Cholsey at 09:34. From Didcot Parkway, take the 09:18 train, arriving into Cholsey at 09:23. Return trains leave in both directions once an hour on a Sunday. By car There is a car park at the station, where charges will probably apply; otherwise please park legally and considerately nearby.
