Overview

From Ticknall we will walk along the National Forest Way to Foremark where there is a lovely little church dating from 1662 which still contains the original box pews, altar screen and three decker pulpit.  It is well worth a look inside.  From here we will walk to the Anchor Church Caves where archaeologists now believe the cave house can be dated to 1,200 years ago, probably lived in by Eardwulf who was deposed as King of Northumbria in AD806 and died in AD830.  We then walk on to Ingleby and back to Ticknall.
