Overview

This is a figure-of-8 walk around Clophill Lakes. It comprises a loop of 3.5 miles, followed by 1.5 miles. We will head first to the hill where Cainhoe Castle once stood circa 1100AD before walking around the beautiful Clophill Lakes for a coffee and toilet stop at the nature reserve cafe. Our return trip will be continuing around the lakes and heading back to the finish. The second leg of the walk is to the remains of Clophill Old Church dating back to the 14th century. Some good surfaces, some dirt tracks (which could be muddy after rain), no fields nor stiles. Mostly flat with one steep ascent and descent for the castle and one gentle ascent to the old church.
