The Meirionnydd Ramblers are a friendly and welcoming group. We offer regular and varied walks in the wonderful countryside in and around southern Snowdonia.
Today we continue our exploration of the Wales Coastal Path on the Llŷn Peninsular, with a walk from the bustling market town of Pwllheli to Criccieth, with its historic castle ruins. Our route follows the dunes along the mile-long beach and around the grassy headland of Pen-y-chain. From here we can see both our departure point and our destination. We then head inland for a few miles, to the village of Llanystumdwy, where Lloyd George spent his childhood. The path now heads back to the coast through farmland to reach the estuary of the Afon Dwyfor. Soon, the town of Criccieth comes into view, dominated by the castle on its rocky perch. Join us on this walk to enjoy the fresh sea air and lovely coastal views.
