A flat, circular walk from Cookham, following the Thames Path to Maidenhead and onwards to Dorney, returning via the Jubilee River (opened 2002 - Thames flood relief channel). From Dorney, we will follow the Jubilee River back to Taplow and the re-developed Paper Mill, before re-crossing the Thames at Boulters Lock. We will pass through Summerleaze area of Maidenhead before crossing arable farmland to return to Cookham.
We follow the scenic Thames Path past Boulters Lock to Maidenhead, passing the Cliveden Estate, many beautiful houses as well as the Monkey Island hotel.
There will be a coffee / cake stop at Jennings Cafe in Maidenhead (toilets available to patrons).
Our lunch stop will be at Dorney Lake - the rowing lake is closed to the public until September (if the weather remains good, re-opening may be delayed....). There is a nice cafe and toilets at the Dorney Lake (if open). Alternatively, our lunch stop will be Dorney Churchyard / Dorney Court garden centre cafe. I will update the status of Dorney Lake one week before the walk.
Please bring a picnic lunch.
On our return, public toilets and ice creams are available at Ray Mill island, just before Boulters Lock.
