We are the Calderdale Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A steep climb up but then a leisurely stroll around the beautiful moorland above Todmorden, with extensive vistas and a picnic lunch at the splendidly-named Cranberry Dam.
Calderdale is notoriously unpredictable in terms of the weather so come prepared for the forecast conditions, particularly with footwear as moorland can be muddy even in summer.
Bring a packed lunch to enjoy in the fresh air. We recommend plenty to drink as refreshments are only available at the start and end of the walk.
Be aware that this is sensitive moorland for rare ground-nesting birds so dogs on a short lead please.
Cafes and pubs are plentiful at the end of your walk for a well-earned drink!
Meet outside the cricket and sports club on Scott Street, Walsden, opposite Gordon Riggs garden centre. Please note you may not park in the garden centre CP, and that on-street parking is limited on Scott Street. Public transport is available by both train and bus to Walsden, and carsharing will reduce congestion.
