Our route will take us from Cromford Wharf on a short sharp ascent and then along to Riber castle, before we descend into Matlock bath, cross the River Derwent and climb again on the other side to pass around the back of the Heights of Abraham and along woodland paths before descending back into Cromford.
This presents an opportunity to cut the walk short if the weather is bad or if anyone is struggling, but all being well we will tackle our final significant ascent to get to Black Rock with amazing views our reward once we get to the top of the rock, before descending along the High Peak Trail and finishing with a gentle stroll along the canal.
Toilets are available at the start, but opportunities along the route are limited.
Parking is believed to be £4.50 for the day, but there is conflicting information online so it may be more than this.

- If you are not a Ramblers member then you must sign up on MeetUp in order to attend this walk. For Rambers members signing up is optional but encouraged so that we know how many to expect.
- Please ensure you dress appropriately (Jeans are not recommended) and wear suitable sturdy footwear.
