This walk has been cancelled due to hot weather and because we now have no-one signed up on Meetup. It will be rescheduled for Sunday 17th September.
We are the Leicestershire & Rutland Walking Group. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Our route will take us from Cromford Wharf on a short sharp ascent and then along to Riber castle, before we descend into Matlock bath, cross the River Derwent and climb again on the other side to pass around the back of the Heights of Abraham and along woodland paths before descending back into Cromford.
This presents an opportunity to cut the walk short if the weather is bad or if anyone is struggling, but all being well we will tackle our final significant ascent to get to Black Rock with amazing views our reward once we get to the top of the rock, before descending along the High Peak Trail and finishing with a gentle stroll along the canal.
Toilets are available at the start, but opportunities along the route are limited.
Parking is believed to be £4.50 for the day, but there is conflicting information online so it may be more than this.

Cromford Meadows Car Park, Mill Road, Cromford CP, Derbyshire Dales Please take car to use the correct car park - this is the last of 3 car parks if you turn right off the A6 onto Mill Road. (the others are Cromford Wharf and Cromford Mill)
