Overview

Cuddy's Corse is the classic pilgrimage route from Chester le Street to Durham Cathedral.  Mostly on good paths or along quiet roads but with some paths across fields (could be muddy!).  Passing Great Lumley, Finchale and Frankland.

Moderate

The walk is linear.  There are long stay car parks (£1.20) at the start (St Mary's or Cone Terrace), and a regular bus service (X21 or 21) between Durham and Chester le Street, so members could leave their car in Chester le Street and get the bus back from Durham or vice-versa!

It is hoped to arrange a visit to the Ankers House which is within St Mary's and St Cuthbert's church, before the walk  (10-10.30). Details to be confirmed later.

The church was the resting point for St Cuthbert's body for many years before it was moved to Durham.
