A walk along the Lanchester Valley railway paths, a steep climb over fields towards Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens, and a descent towards the Deerness Valley railway path for the return to Broompark picnic area. Likely to be muddy especially over the fields so good footwear, gaiters and walking poles recommended. 
Car parking at Broompark picnic area, please take care on the access road as there is a large speed bump.
A short section of road walking and several minor but busy roads to cross.
